Every way a Thulla game can end
The usual ending is simple: one player is left holding cards and is the Bhabhi. But a game of Thulla Champions can end in eight different ways, and a few of them surprise new players. This page lists all of them with a short example, in the order you are likely to meet them.
1. The normal ending
Players go out one by one as they play their last card safely. When only one player is still holding cards, the game is over and that player is the Bhabhi. Everyone else is safe, whether they went out first or third. Finishing position makes no difference to the result: the Bhabhi loses the entry fee and the other players share the pot equally.
2. Your last card is thrown as a thulla
Sara has one card left, ♥6, and cannot follow the led suit. She throws it as a thulla. A thrower never picks up, so Sara is out safe. Somebody else takes the pile.
3. Your last card wins the trick
Hina plays her last card, ♥K, as part of a clean trick, and it is the highest heart. The trick is won, the cards leave the game, and Hina is out. Leading passes to the next player still in the round. (Some other rule sets make the winner of the last trick draw a card or lead again. We do not: if you win with your last card, you are done.)
4. The draw
If every player still in the round plays their last card in the same clean trick, nobody is left holding cards. Nobody is the Bhabhi: the game is a draw, everybody counts as a winner, and every player gets their entry fee back. This is most common at a two-player table.
Example: two players are left, Ahmed with ♠5 and Hina with ♠9, and Ahmed leads. Ahmed plays ♠5, Hina follows with ♠9, and both hands are empty. Neither is left holding anything, so it is a draw. We chose this over the older house rule that makes the lower card the Bhabhi, because neither player did anything wrong: the cards simply ran out together.
5. The shootout
When two players are left, their hands share no suit, and one of them is about to lead, the result is already forced: the player about to lead is the Bhabhi. The game ends at once instead of making both players play it out. The full explanation, two examples and the brute-force check are on the shootout page.
6. Giving up
When exactly two players still hold cards, either of them may give up. The player who gives up is the Bhabhi (and loses the fee, counted as a loss but not as a quit) and the other goes out safe. Only a person can give up: bots never do. The button asks you to confirm, because it costs you the entry fee. At a table that started with two players, the option is there from the first move.
7. A Hand Call
A Hand Call does not end the game directly, but it removes a player: if the target accepts, their whole hand goes to the asker and they finish safe at once. It is never allowed when only one opponent is left, because taking that hand would leave the asker alone with all the cards and end the game in an instant. See when to ask and when to refuse.
8. Leaving, disconnecting, timeouts
None of these end a game. If you lose your connection or run out of time, a bot covers your seat and keeps playing for you; each turn has 15 seconds, and after a timeout your next turns get only 5 until you play a card again. A player who deliberately quits loses the entry fee. If the server cannot finish or restore a match, the match is cancelled and every player is refunded.
What each ending pays
| Ending | Who loses | Entry fee |
|---|---|---|
| Normal, shootout | The last player holding cards, or the player about to lead | Loser forfeits it, the others share the pot |
| Give up | The player who gave up | Same as a normal loss |
| Draw | Nobody | Everyone gets theirs back |
| Quit | The player who quit | Forfeited |
| Cancelled match | Nobody | Everyone is refunded |
Coins in Thulla Champions are game items with no cash value. See about for how the game is paid for.
How often does each ending happen?
We measured it. In simulated four-player games on the real engine, most games end in a shootout and a draw is rare: see the simulation results for the numbers.

Frequently asked questions
Can a Thulla game end in a draw?
Yes. If every player still in the round plays their last card in the same clean trick, nobody is left holding cards. There is no Bhabhi, everybody wins and every player gets their entry fee back.
Is playing my last card always safe?
No. Your last card is only safe once the trick is over. If it was the highest card of the led suit and a later player throws a thulla, you pick up the whole pile and are back in the round.
What happens to the entry fee in each ending?
The Bhabhi loses the entry fee and the other players share the pot equally. In a draw everybody gets their fee back. A cancelled or broken match is refunded.
What happens if a player disconnects?
Leaving or losing connection never ends the game by itself: a bot takes over the seat. A player who quits loses the fee. A match that cannot be restored is cancelled and refunded.
Who is the Bhabhi if two players give up or leave?
Only one of the last two players can give up, and only a person, never a bot. The player who gives up is the Bhabhi and the other goes out safe.
